For those of you wondering, the Missouri River is creeping a little closer to me. But I should stay dry. I'm about 2 and a half blocks from the river. It's projected to flood and get about a block away from me. But they have been building a dike right along the river to protect the neighborhood below me.
They've been working about a week on the dikes. The max release from the Oahe Dam - about 5 miles upstream - comes on Tuesday. They've had massive rain and lots of snow in Montana and Wyoming that's coming this way.
The businesses on Main Street have all sandbagged as have people in several Pierre neighborhoods and probably about half of Fort Pierre.
The photo below is about ten days ago, the water is now up to the bench on the right. It's hard to get many pictures now because they will arrest you if they catch you on the dikes.
