A few pictures from a weekend trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone last weekend. It was a photo taking getaway for the long weekend - I have to take a few for myself and not the state for a change. There was some snow, fog and some sun, but lots of animals and not too many people.

This big bull Elk was protecting his herd about two miles from Old Faithful. He came within 30-40 yards of us several times. There were elk everywhere and they were all bugling.

Had to get my new truck dirty, I only got it two days before and didn't want to look like another tourist. The color doesn't show the dirt well. I'll have to go south and find some red dirt for it.

We watched these two bulls for about an hour before they finally got close to each other and locked horns. The fight only lasted about 30 seconds and the challenger lost. The old bull kept his small herd and was still king of the lake when we left.

This was one of the first pictures I took that weekend. The four moose were about 35 yards away, there were geese flying around and elk right behind us bugling. A nice start for the weekend.
